Cocobolo Wood - Cocobolo Wood Pen ImagesCocobolo (Dalbergia retusa) is a tropical wood found in Mexico and Central America. It is a true member of the rosewood genus. Its color ranges from an orange or reddish-brown to deep reds and purples. It sometimes has a figuring of darker irregular traces weaving through the wood. The tree can grow to 60 feet tall. Cocobolo is hard and very dense. Its density is high enough that it will not float in water. The wood is oily and finishes with a very nice luster. It does darken very slowly with age.
